Something happened while I was busy having babies. The Internet changed. When I published my first book in 2006, I thought that websites were for companies and that blogs were for mommies to post pictures of their kiddos for out-of-town relatives to see. So I steered clear of a blog for my book launch and instead had my husband and brother-in-law post this cutting-edge masterpiece:
I don’t know which is worse – the fact that the photo above is actually well-cropped version of a “belly shot” that I took when I was pregnant with my first son, or the fact that it’s been almost eight years since the site launched and it still said, “Welcome to the NEW emilyeryan.com!” I couldn’t take it any longer. The. Old. Site. Had. To. Go.
In my defense, while most authors were staying on-trend transitioning from static, boring, one-shot websites to customized, personal, monetized blogs, I was busy birthing four kids in six years and trying to remember to brush my teeth. It kind of feels good to emerge from that fog!
The missing years may or may not get filled in with time, but for now, if you would like to reach me, I’m serving and writing through Priority Ministries. See you there!
