Have a little church with Reba in your car! { GIVEAWAY }

The carpet is stained. The odometer is just shy of 115,000 miles, and on any given day you’ll find at least seven candy wrappers, four coloring pages and two broken toys on the floorboard. But despite all that, sometimes my minivan is the best church I get all week.

Sometimes I listen to sermons or audiobooks or Adventures in Odyssey with my children, but recently my son and I had church with Reba in our van – yes, that Reba.

I cannot remember the last time I put in a CD and fell in love on the very first note, but that’s exactly what happened when I pressed play on Reba McEntire’s newest album Sing It Now: Songs of Faith and Hope. I’ve always loved her unique country voice, but she’s never recorded an entire gospel album until now. Let me tell you, her voice was made for these songs!

She opens with classic “Jesus Loves Me” sung acapella and then leads us song by song down the Memory Lane of our faith. These are the songs that are already in your heart and on your tongue, so you’ll have no trouble singing along too. I knew right away I’d be adding this CD it to my children’s bedtime music collection.

But just when I thought “church” was over, I discovered that the album contains an entire second CD of original songs! I got choked up during “God and My Girlfriends” and was tempted to pull over on the side of the road to call every one of my college roommates right then. Then “There is a God” make me want to drop to my knees in prayer and never get up, and now I’ve been singing “I’ve Got The Lord On My Side” all week.

It’s not often that I recommend music, but I honestly LOVED this album. I promise – it will strengthen your faith and renew your hope, just like the title suggests.

    Soft and tenderly

  2. Sarah Braun

    I’m excited about the whole CD because these songs are ones we sang when we visited my grandparents. You just don’t hear them as often anymore and I can still hear their voices singing along whenever they are played. Sweet memories.
    If I had to pick a favorite, it would be In the Garden.
